Owls

Has something gone wrong, or is it these glasses?

You seem so different, lost in your blazing

bush, but it’s true — the luminous gas

becomes you. Are these ideas, or just memes?

And that poncho you wear, you’ll never pass

muster with the doctor who prescribes creams

and lotions for your broken wings — “A phase,

that’s all, just a phase,” she says, but it seems

like everything’s coming up owls these days.
