Compulsion

 

You can’t not do it — you can think about

it only after the fact, and before

you do it again. Go ahead and mouth

 

all your tired platitudes about restraint —

but what about the bubble wrap, the doubt

disguised as the last piece of pie, the brain-

 

teasers, the Loreleis inside who pour

their honey into your ears, dare you, haunt

you till you’ve had enough and still want more?
